Step 1 – Initial Innovation Assessment
You will be asked to provide detailed information about your innovation through Legate's secure application portal. Our team will evaluate your submission to assess its technological maturity, battlefield relevance, operational value, scalability, commercial viability and suitability for investment.
Innovations that successfully complete this stage will be invited to proceed to Legate's final assessment process.
Step 2 – Technical Assessment, Due Diligence and Investment Evaluation
Successful applicants will be invited to participate in Legate's comprehensive Technical Assessment.
This stage includes the execution of a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), completion of all due diligence requirements (including KYC, AML and sanctions screening), and a detailed technical, operational and commercial evaluation by Legate's independent Expert Panel.
To support this process, applicants are required to make a contribution of between £3,000 and £5,000, depending on the complexity and maturity of the innovation. This contribution covers the cost of the due diligence process, KYC verification and the expert panel review.
As part of the assessment, applicants will be asked to submit supporting documentation, including:
• Business Plan
• Financial Information
• Go-to-Market (GTM) Strategy
• Technical documentation and any other relevant supporting material requested by the panel
The assessment is conducted by experienced defence industry specialists, senior NATO and military officers, Special Forces personnel, technical experts and commercial advisers.
Upon completion, applicants will receive a comprehensive written report summarising the panel's findings, identifying strengths and risks, providing recommendations, and outlining potential pathways to market readiness and commercial deployment.
Financial Offer
Following successful completion of the Technical Assessment, Legate will determine whether to make a formal investment offer. Where approved, Legate will establish a dedicated NewCo Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) between the Innovator, Legate and its financing partners to fund the continued development, manufacture and commercialisation of the innovation.
You will now be redirected to Legate's secure, encrypted application portal to begin your application.
